Where land meets water EP

The full EP is now out. Free download on Bandcamp and it can be streamed on Spotify (see below). It's also available on Amazon, Apple Music, Deezer etc.

This is what I wrote for the release: "“Where land meets water” celebrates my fascination with the landscape, nature and atmosphere of lakes I have visited here and abroad, particularly during my childhood in the 60s and 70s. There is something special about them, not just their natural history but that they are places where happy memories are often made.

Lakeside Picnic 1966
A memory of a visit to a lake in Surrey in the south of England. Sadly none of the family can remember which one and looking at pictures of the lakes I think I recognise several so I can’t retrospectively pinpoint which one. The date may or may not be correct. The happy memory abides but is de-localised in time and space.

Where land meets water
I think I’m more in the present day with this piece but instrument wise it is firmly in the past, piano from the early 20th century, an electric fan organ from the 50s, mellotron from the 60s and an ARP synthesiser and string machines from the 70s.

Lullaby for a mayfly
This heavily features the tiny Hohner Organetta from the 50s. It uses an electric fan to blow air through it’s reeds and has a wistful of accordion/ harmonium sound.

Just Mayflies
In this I tried to create a picture of mayflies dancing over the water. But it also reflects that we are just mayflies ourselves and after the revels of the day by the lakeside eventually we all have to go home.
